Balancing social life, family, and college coursework can become overwhelming. By planning your time wisely you’ll be able to accomplish more throughout the day, leaving more free time to enjoy.
The first step to manage your time better is to identify what you are wasting your time on, then set goals to not partake in those activities. With most of my classes being online, I find myself getting caught up checking my phone and social media. To prevent this, I have begun charging my phone in a different room while I am in class or doing homework so I am less inclined to get up and check it. In other words, out of sight, out of mind.
Another tactic that I have just recently tried is making To-Do lists the night before. I make the list in the morning, allowing me to prioritize my assignments and plans for the day. The To-Do list can also count as a reminder for what I need to accomplish that day. I make sure to arrange what is most important and complete those tasks first.
Setting up a routine for your day can also help manage your time better. For me, I know that I feel the best when I get up early in the morning and exercise. After I workout, I feel energized and motivated to complete my tasks for the day. A routine makes my life far less stressful, just knowing when your mind and body are at their best to complete whatever needs to be done.
